ALL EMERGENCY APPARATUS STAGING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MONDAY, MAY 5, 2008: EXIT on Highway 70 (Exit 165) proceed right (East) on Highway 70 for approximately 1 mile to Highway 361/61 and turn left (North) for approximately 3 miles to the Staging Officer's location for further direction. Staging area is an empty car dealership lot. The link below is for Pine City, MN.

The Staging Area will be open at 8:00am - you must be in staging no later than 11:00am (funeral at 11:30am).

Incident Description:

Firefighter Jylka was responding to a wildland fire on board fire apparatus to a wildland fire when he suffered a medical emergency and went unresponsive. Another Firefighter began CPR and he was transported by ambulance to the local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Jeremy was 34 years old and had just joined the Pine City Fire Department May 1, 2007.

Jeremy is survived by his wife Kelly and daughter Anika of Pine City, Mother Carol Kort of Motley, MN, Father Gary Jylka of Mahtowa, MN, Sisters Tammy and husband Jim Myrick of Columbus, GA, Gina and husband Mitch Tavares of Pilliger, MN, Tashia and husband Chad Birkholtz of Pilliger, MN, mother-in-law Crystal and husband Jim Boylan of Pine City, sister-in-law Karla and husband Jay Davidson of East Bethel, MN; many cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Jeremy is preceded in death by his sister Tracy Jylka.
