Oronoco Firefighter Drew Hewitt

MN Firefighter LODD Death

Drew Hewitt passed away early March 3, 2008.  He proudly served both the Oronoco First Responders and the Oronoco Fire Department for five years. During those years he held office as secretary of the Oronoco First Responder and the Oronoco Fire Department’s Relief Association.  After being diagnosed with terminal cancer over a year ago, Drew continued to run emergency calls until he could physically no longer respond and was put on hospice care.  In 2007 Drew responded to the most calls for all members of the First Responders. Drew will be remembered for his enthusiasm in everything he did.  He will be remembered as a friend who cared deeply about his fellow colleagues, his department, and his city.  To all of us he is a hero and will be missed greatly.

A memorial program for Drew Hewitt will be held at the Oronoco Fire Hall on March 28, 2008 at 4:30 pm. The program will  include a Celebration of Drew’s life at 5:30pm, a memorial parade at 6:30 pm followed by fellowship at the Fire Hall. Refreshments will be provided throughout the program. The memorial parade route will be detailed at the program, and will include a portion of County Road 12, Lake Shady Avenue, 100th Street NW and Minnesota Avenue in Oronoco.

Flowers may be sent for the Memorial to the Fire Hall at 110 2nd Street NW, Oronoco, or Memorial donations may be written to the Oronoco Fire Department or Oronoco First Responders at PO Box 195, Oronoco, MN 55960.
